Structural Heart Disease interventions
Dr Turner is specially trained in performing keyhole procedures on the heart. Many of these procedures have replaced open heart surgery operations, reducing pain, risk and hospital stays for patients.
He was trained in the full range of congenital heart disease procedures at Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College London NHS Trust, prior to starting as a Consultant in Bristol in 2005. He also performs structural heart interventions, which use similar skills, but are offered to patients who develop heart disease in later life.
Structural Procedures
TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation), Left Atrial Appendage closure, Paravalvar leak closure, post-MI Ventricular Septal Rupture / defect.
Dr Turner is working with colleagues in London to bring MitraClip (a new procedure for a leaking mitral valve) to the patients of the South West of England.
Investigations
Cardiac catheterisation, transoesophageal echocardiography, bubble contrast and transthoracic echocardiography, ECG monitoring, exercise testing.
