How to Refer
There are several ways that you can be referred to Mark Turner, please find them below:
Insured Patients
Dr Turner is registered with many medical insurers. Some insurers do not have contracts with all private hospitals. If your insurer tells you that your policy does not cover you to see Dr Turner, then please contact us, as this can usually be resolved because of the specialist nature of Dr Turner’s practice and can also offer appointments in several private hospitals. We have always been able to resolve any issues like this in the past, so please contact us if you have any trouble like this.
Self Referral
Dr Turner is happy to see patient who are self-referred. This often applies to divers who need assessments specific to diving, or have been recommended by other diving physicians to have a diving cardiology assessment. If you do self-refer and have medical insurance, you should check with your insurer that this will be covered. Some companies, particularly BUPA require a GP or Consultant referral. GP Referral
The most common way to be referred is via your GP. We can accept referrals by letter, e-mail or fax;

If your GP has any questions about Dr Turner’s practice, then this web site may be helpful, but Dr Turner is very happy to speak personally to your GP if there are any specific questions.
Consultant & Diving Medicine Physicians Referral
Referral from other specialists including Consultants and Diving Medicine Specialists can be received in the same way as GP referral. In a similar way, Dr Turner is happy to discuss any patient with the referring doctor, by e-mail or telephone.
Having worked in Bristol for over 8 years and having provided region-wide services during this period, Dr Turner knows most of the regions cardiologists and most of the Cardiologists in the UK working in Congenital and Structural Heart Disease. He is also well-known in the field of diving medicine, as he is Vice Chairman of the UK Sports Diving Medical Committee and has organised the National UKSDMC Conference in 2011 and 2013.
